Rick boasts an impressive 32-year journey in the field of physical therapy, marked by diverse expertise across various disciplines. His journey began with graduation from Ithaca College in 1989, and ever since, he has been dedicated to expanding his knowledge and skills in orthopedic treatment.

Throughout his career, Rick has actively pursued continuing education opportunities to stay at the forefront of his profession. Notably, he has undertaken specialized training in McConnell Taping Techniques, McKenzie Lumbar and Cervical Treatment, The Joyner Sports Medicine Conference, and The New England Shoulder and Sport Symposium. Furthermore, Rick has enriched his understanding by delving into Integrated Neuromuscular Re-Education, Kinesiology Taping, and Corrective Exercise Techniques for Advanced Clinical Practice. He has also participated in numerous additional knee and shoulder courses, further enhancing his expertise in these areas.

Rick’s illustrious career extends beyond his achievements in physical therapy. He dedicated an impressive 29 years to the Army Reserve, with notable deployments to Kosovo, Iraq, and the Middle East. Serving with unwavering commitment, he retired in 2021, having reached the rank of Colonel.

Throughout his military journey, Rick held significant and challenging positions. One of his crucial roles was serving as the 804th Medical Brigade Commander, where he skillfully oversaw a majority of the Army Reserve Medical Units across New England. Subsequently, he was assigned as the Army Central Command’s Medical Operations Command Post Brigade Commander, a position of utmost importance, wherein he was responsible for managing most of the Army’s Medical Assets in the Middle East. In recognition of his remarkable service and dedication to the nation, Rick has been honored with two Legion of Merit awards and the prestigious Bronze Star.

Combining his extensive military experience with his expertise in physical therapy, Rick exemplifies a remarkable individual who has made significant contributions both in the field of healthcare and in service to the country.

In his well-deserved free time, Rick indulges in two beloved pastimes – saltwater fishing and undertaking projects around his challenging 1840s home. Rick’s personal life is enriched by his marriage to Cecilia. They share three wonderful daughters – Elizabeth, Julia, and Sophia.

Nancy Ng, PT

Treating Therapist

Nancy holds a BS in Physical Therapy, graduating in 1984 from Northeastern University. Over her impressive 39-year career, she has honed her skills and expertise across a wide range of healthcare settings. Her experience encompasses medical/surgical rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, stroke and Neuro Rehab, Geriatric Rehab, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and wound care.

In addition to her contributions to the field of physical therapy, Nancy also devoted six years to teaching and tutoring as an elementary school math and reading tutor and substitute teacher.

Nancy finds fulfillment in her personal life as well. She is happily married with two adult sons. To balance her busy professional and personal life, she takes pleasure in practicing yoga, indulging in cooking, delving into the world of literature through reading, and nurturing her love for gardening. Furthermore, Nancy is an enthusiastic Bruins fan, following and supporting the team with great enthusiasm.


Cherie Pilavios-Udden

Cherie possesses a wealth of expertise in managing medical offices, boasting an impressive track record of over 30 years in the field. Her extensive knowledge encompasses various essential aspects, such as billing, receivables, and collections. Throughout her career, Cherie has honed her skills and garnered invaluable experience, making her a valuable asset in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of medical practices. Her proficiency in handling financial matters plays a vital role in the overall success and sustainability of our clinic.

Cherie’s exceptional customer service skills have played a pivotal role in fostering strong connections with patients, leaving them consistently delighted and satisfied with their experiences. Her ability to build rapport and provide attentive care has contributed to a myriad of happy and contented patients.

In addition to her patient-focused approach, Cherie has also cultivated robust relationships with referring physicians and insurance providers. Her professionalism and effective communication have earned her the trust and respect of these key stakeholders in the medical field. Through these strong connections, Cherie ensures seamless coordination and efficient interactions, benefiting both our clinic and the broader healthcare networks. Her dedication to providing top-notch service reflects her commitment to excellence in medical office management.

Cherie has been happily married for over 40 years and has an adult son and daughter. She is an avid quilter, enjoys dancing, and loves spending time with her family.


Heather Smith, PTA

Assistant from Bay State College in 2010. Her passion for physical therapy began during high school when she participated in a school-to-career program at Ortho Sport Physical Therapy. While pursuing her education, Heather worked diligently as a rehab aide at South Shore Hospital, where she gained valuable experience in outpatient rehab, cardiac rehab, and aquatic therapy.

Following her graduation, Heather embarked on a diverse and fulfilling career, working in various settings such as outpatient therapy, home care, and subacute rehabilitation centers. Along the way, she explored her interests in different aspects of physical therapy, including aquatic therapy and hippotherapy (treating patients on horses) at a local therapeutic riding center.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Heather finds joy in spending quality time with her husband, two children, and animals on their small hobby farm. Her dedication to physical therapy and her love for her family and animals shape a well-rounded and fulfilling life.


Julie Hilsdon, PTA

Julie Hilsdon boasts an impressive career spanning over 20 years as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She proudly holds an Associate’s Degree from Fisher College in Boston, which she earned upon successful completion of the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Throughout her professional journey, Julie has been dedicated and proactive, gaining valuable experience in diverse healthcare settings such as acute care, sub-acute care, long-term care, and outpatient physical therapy.

While she excels in various areas, Julie finds a particular passion for outpatient orthopedics. It is in this setting that she thrives, relishing the opportunity to meet numerous individuals and provide them with essential support in achieving their goals and enhancing their functional independence.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Julie cherishes her personal life. She values spending quality time with her loved ones, both family and friends, and takes delight in caring for her energetic canine companions. Additionally, she finds joy in keeping up with her active four-year-old son, who she playfully admits keeps her feeling youthful and energetic!

Jen has been associated with Ortho Sport Physical Therapy intermittently ever since the practice first opened its doors. Married to her husband Adam for six years, she is a proud mother of twin boys, Seamus and Tommy, whose energetic nature keeps them all on their toes. During her leisure moments, Jen finds delight in crafting and baking with her sons, cherishing quality time spent with her loved ones. She feels immensely grateful to be embraced as a cherished member of the Ortho Sport family
